Coastal Otago

Overview

Since 1996, Life Education Trust Coastal Otago has been successfully delivering the Life Education programme via our unique mobile classroom with specialist Educator to schools in our region.

In 2020, despite COVID19 lockdowns we reached 5315 students.  This year our target is to reach over 6000 students. Life Education has now also partnered with Anxiety NZ to extend the relevance of our topics in the classroom to include a focus on Healthy Minds, with our take home messages on children's identity, resilience, stress and anxiety in these uncertain times.

Our region

Dunedin to Oamaru, through to Omarama, Oamaru, Macraes, Palmerston, Port Chalmers, Sawyers Bay, Otago Peninsula and all schools in between.

Life Education Trust nationally is the largest external health educator for school children in NZ. Our non-profit organization is non government funded and totally reliant on grants, donations and fundraising to continue to deliver this valuable programme via our mobile classroom. We could not do this without you!

Our Educator

Maria Sinclair

Maria studied Primary Teaching at the Dunedin Teacher’s College and taught in Dunedin and South Otago for 13 years. She loves teaching and always  feels privileged to be part of her students learning journey.

Maria remembers meeting Harold when she was a beginner teacher and thinking ‘Wow, he’s amazing.  I bet that it’s fun to teach with Harold!”

She feels that working with Harold is fantastic. Every day is different and a new adventure. Together Maria and Harold visit schools in Dunedin, North Otago and the Waitaki Valley sharing the positive messages of Life Education with the wonderful students and teachers in our region.
