Wear Yellow for Harold

Wear Yellow for Harold is an annual national awareness and fundraising day for Life Education Trust. Schools and businesses get involved to support our work with tamariki and rangatahi in their local community.

Fundraising is essential to Life Education as the work we do in communities across New Zealand is largely funded by donations, sponsorships and grants. Our visits to schools and the lessons delivered in our mobile classrooms are heavily subsidised through the funds we raise - we don’t receive any government funding. We use this model so that cost isn’t a barrier to tamariki and rangatahi receiving this important education. All funds raised stay with your chosen Trust — so when you support Harold, you’re supporting tamariki in your own community to grow up healthy, confident, resilient, and empowered to make positive choices.

Each year on the Friday closest to World Giraffe Day (21 June), schools nationwide take part in Wear Yellow for Harold by wearing yellow or giraffe-themed outfits and making a gold coin donation to support Life Education’s work. Many schools and businesses add activities like discos and bake sales, bringing their community together and boosting fundraising.

Schools are supported with a ‘Kura Kete’ packed with resources to support learning around a key wellbeing theme for the year - the focus for 2026 is: ‘Support and Respect Each Other’.
