Outline
We look through Harold’s telescope and meet an alien called Zena who crashes into Earth. Zena asks about humans and their needs. Talking Brain helps focus the lesson on where food comes from. Food is sorted into three categories; food from the ground (plants), animals, and processed food using a range of ingredients. We are also taken on a journey through the digestive system ending up in the blood stream so we can better understand what happens to our food when we eat it.
Key messages:
-
Our food comes from different places
-
Some foods are made from a variety of ingredients
-
We can think about ingredients and where foods come from to make healthy choices
-
Our bodies digest food to give us energy
Focus
-
Exploring food sources- the ground, animals and ingredients
-
Look at ingredients and start identifying foods with large amounts of sugar, fat and salt
