Outline
This module takes us on a journey where we are asked by Sir Harold to help rescue a brave knight called Sir Possum-a-lot. To save him we must go on a quest in the castle of the land Near By, we travel through the castle solving riddles and collecting gems for the ruler of Near By in order to win the release of Sir Possum-a-lot. The various towers we must enter focus on each of the following three drugs: alcohol, medicines and nicotine. There will be audio visual material to view, activities and discussions based around the three areas as well as the riddles. To conclude there is a grand quiz delivered by the ruler of Near By.

A drug is any chemical substance (other that food, water and oxygen) that when put into the body change the way the mind or body works

We are learning to…
1. understand that drugs change the way the mind or body work
Successful Learning will look like… children stating some of the common changes in the human body when drugs like alcohol, nicotine and analgesics are put into it
2. recognise that drugs enter and travel through the body in a variety of ways
Successful Learning will look like… children exploring digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems to identify that all drugs once in the body travel in the blood affecting a variety of body parts
3. identify differences between helpful and harmful drugs
Successful Learning will look like… children naming helpful and harmful drugs and identifying that medicines are only helpful if the human body needs them

Start the Quest exploring alcohol, medicine or nicotine
Part B

Continue the Quest exploring the two drugs not covered in part one (alcohol, nicotine or medicines)

Once all three drugs explored then we do the major quiz to complete the quest
