It's Great to Be Me (Year 5 & 6)

Outline

The key focus of this module is what makes us unique, in particular our personalities. Students visit a planet where people are unable to think for themselves, to reinforce the message that it’s great for everyone to be themselves. We look at what it means to conform and why it is important to make our own choices. We explore nicotine and the effect of smoking on the human body including looking at some of the major chemicals in a cigarette.

Key messages:

  • We are all unique
  • We all make decisions and need to be responsible for the decisions we make
  • Conforming is when we follow what other people are doing, there are times when we need to conform and other times when we don't
