Food for Energy (Years 1 & 2)

Outline

The focus for this module is the body’s need for a balanced diet. Harold invites us to join him at his friend, Jocko’s, birthday party. When we get there we find there are some problems and so we use our knowledge of the food pyramid to explain what a balanced diet is and why we need it. We are involved with sorting food out into the three levels of the food pyramid to help show their greater understanding of a balanced diet.

Key messages:

  • Humans need a balanced diet for energy.
  • Food gives us energy

Focus
  • Exploring the food pyramid and relating it to the concept of a balanced diet containing foods from the different parts of the pyramid in different amounts.
