Harold’s Picnic (Year 1 & 2)

Outline Students will explore the importance of eating a variety of food each day to maintain the body and provide it with energy. They are invited to Harold’s picnic only to discover that the food has been eaten by a hungry possum and poor Harold is left hungry and tired. Students help Harold by sorting his food into food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The learning module delivered might look like this:

Part A

  • Catch up with Harold and get directions to the picnic.
  • Look at what food gives us and how food gets into the body using TAM- our transparent anatomic mannequin.

Part B

  • Go on the picnic with Harold and find out why we need to eat a variety of foods.
  • Sort foods into breakfast, lunch and tea
