Life Education Learning Modules

IHappy and Healthy (Year 3 & 4)

Outline In this programme we join Billy on his first day at a new school, we explore a variety of emotions especially those connected with coping with change. One of the key understandings is that people feel differently in different situations. We need to accept and acknowledge that our feelings are OK, the important thing is how we deal with these varying emotions. We look at how we can help others to fit in and cope with new situations. The human body is also explored with the use of Karpet Kid and tactile body parts.
Key messages
  • We all have many different feelings and that is normal and OK, how we cope with our differing feelings is important.
Focus
  • Coping with change and helping others who may be feeling unhappy.
  • Recognising, naming and classifying different emotions in order to develop a sense of empathy.
“We are learning to…”
  1. Name different feelings and when we might feel these.
  2. Accept that people feel differently about things that happen and work out some ways to cope with our different feelings.
