I hope you are enjoying the holidays and are doing some fun activities with your friends and family. If you scroll down you will find out all about my HAROLD HEROS. Hey, maybe you could be a HAROLD HERO over the holidays. What could you do to help someone at home?
28th March 2012
Some of my HAROLD HEROs have emailed telling what they have done to help someone else.
Alex in Matamata looked after someone who was hurt at morning tea, Haley in Dunedin helped her 5 year old sister on her first day of school by making sure she knew where to put her bag, and Jamie in Auckland shared his skateboard at the school wheels day.
Read my messages below to see how you can be a HAROLD HERO too!
14th March 2012

Kia ora my special friends!
I have an important job for you. Every day at school try and do at least one nice thing to EVERY person in your class. It might be saying hello to them in the morning, sitting next to them at lunch or maybe asking them to play with you. What other things can you come up with? Be a HAROLD HERO and help people be happy and have fun at school!
15 February 2012
So how is school going my friends?
The beginning of the year is an exciting time. New books, often a new class and for some even a new school. Sometimes we aren’t with our old friends anymore and have to meet new people. Or maybe some new people have come to our school.
Have a think about what we can do to show people we want to be friends. Maybe there is someone in our class who needs a friend. Be a HAROLD HERO and help people be happy and have fun at school!

Yippee!!!! School is back!!!! I am soooooooooooooo excited that I am starting back visiting schools and seeing all my friends again. I hope you all had a wonderful happy and healthy holiday and are ready for the new school year.
Now is a good time to think about what we can do to help our learning. Having enough sleep and eating healthy food can help our brain concentrate and learn new things. What healthy food do you like? Remember to drink lots of water, or as I call it “brain juice”. School is much more fun when our bodies are healthy isn’t it.

Well this is my last message for this year. I have had heaps of fun writing my messages for my website; I hope you have enjoyed reading them. Over the holidays check out some of my other messages, just look at the bottom of this page and see what I have been doing this year.
I will be spending time over the holidays with my family, riding my bike and playing with my cousins in our tree fort. I hope you all have fun over your holiday and I will see you back here, and hopefully at your school, next year.
Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy holiday.
7 December 2011
Meri Kirîhimete to all my friends. That’s Maori for Merry Christmas. I have been finding out how to say Merry Christmas in lots of different languages.
Geseënde Kersfees in Afrikaans
Joyeux Noël in French
Selamat Hari Natal in Indonesian
Feliz Navidad in Spanish
What different ways do you know to say Merry Christmas? Maybe you can share them with your friends.

Hi my friends. Check out some of my other messages below. I’m learning heaps of interesting stuff.
I’ve found out some more really cool facts about lungs. They are made up of millions of little air sacks called alveoli, isn’t that a neat name? They are like little bubbles that are so thin the oxygen that we breathe can move through them straight into our blood. So that means that oxygen will travel to every part of our body. I also found out that our left lung is smaller than our right lung. Why do you think that is?
9th November 2011
Check out all my messages below about the brain. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE finding out new facts. Now I’m going to find out about the lungs. Did you know that giraffe’s lungs are 8 times bigger than humans? I wonder why? Maybe you can find out for me. We both breathe in oxygen which then goes into our blood and travels all around our bodies to keep us alive. When we run, our muscles need more oxygen and that’s why we get puffed.
What facts can you find out?

The last few have been amazing things I have found out about the brain. WOW! we are sooooooooo lucky, our brain does so much for us, and most of the time we don’t even realise it is doing it. Imagine if we had to concentrate, blink our eyes, breathe, make our heart beat, move our mouth up and down to chew our food..... the list is endless. We would never have time to do our school work! Keep reading my messages cause I’m going to find out more about other body parts too! Happy reading!
12th October 2011
In my last few messages I have been finding out about the brain. What have you found out? Here are some questions for you; I bet you can answer them!
-
What are 3 important jobs our brain does for us?
-
What would you say is the most important job? Why?
-
What are 2 things we can do to protect our brain?
Imagine you are a brain scientist and are researching about the brain. What would you like to find out about it?
Happy thinking!

There was so much more to learn about the brain. I found out that because it is so delicate it needs to be protected. Our skull is the hard bone that protects our brain. When we are born the skull is made up of 22 bones and there are spaces between them. As we grow they join together and harden. If you look at a skull you will see the little lines where they have fused. Our skull may be hard, but the brain can still be hurt. Can you think of some things we can do to protect our skull and brain?
14 September 2011
Remember I said that I call the brain the Super Computer? That’s because it is sooooooooooo clever. Different parts of our brain do different things. Some areas receive messages from around the body; others control balance and coordinate our muscles, while other parts work out language, what we hear and what we say. And that’s just some of the jobs our brain does! What else can you think of? Hey, I guess we will need to use our brain to think of more things won’t we!
28th August 2011
Hello my friends! Over the next few weeks I am going to be learning more about our amazing bodies. I’m going to learn about different body parts and I have decided to start with the most amazing body part we have, the brain. If you stick your fingers in a squishy avocado, it's what the brain feels like. It is much cleverer than any computer, that’s why I call it the SUPER COMPUTER! You can even listen to my song called 'Super Computer;. Just go to my song page. Have fun!

WOW! What amazing weather we have had! Lots of places had snow and it has been really really cold!!! I got to see snowflakes and even caught some on my tongue. I tried to look closely at them but they kept melting on my hand. Did you know that every snowflake is different? Think about how many snowflakes have fallen over the last few days, and no two are the same. That is sooooooooooooo cool! They are unique and special, just like us.
3rd August 2011
Welcome back to school! It’s fun having a holiday, sleeping in and relaxing, but it is wonderful being back at school. It’s important that am as healthy as I can be, cause it makes learning easier and much more fun! I make sure I have lots of sleep so I’m ready to learn and I drink heaps of water. I like calling water BRAIN JUICE as it helps my brain concentrate, remember things and have fun with my friends. How much brain juice have you had today?
20th July 2011
Hola! That’s hello in Spanish.
I’m spending time in the holidays finding out about different countries. It’s cool to learn about different places around the world. Each country is unique; different food, languages, sports, and customs. Did you know that chocolate comes from Mexico, the game Snakes and Ladders was invented in India and Australia has over 1500 species of spiders! WOW!
What can you find out?
6th July 2011
Ki ora koutou my friends. He ahurei koe, kâore he mea i tua atu.
That means “You are unique and special”. We are celebrating Maori Language Week so I thought I would share some words with you. Did you know that giraffe in Maori is kaki roa? It means long neck, and I certainly have one of those!!! What words can you find out?
Mîharo tô tinana me tô hinengaro (Your brain and body is totally amazing)
22nd June 2011
Kia ora everyone. This week I have decided that every day I would do at least one nice thing for someone else. Today before school I helped my mum load the dishwasher. Yesterday when I was at the shops I saw someone drop their keys and I called out “Excuse me I think you dropped your keys”. They were very happy cause I don’t think they knew. The lady thanked me and said “You have made my day!” It made me feel soooooooooo good that I could help someone else and make them happy. Maybe you can help someone too and make their day. What could you do? Who could you help?
8th June 2011
Hello again my friends. Winter has arrived and some wet weather round the country. My mum bought me a new jacket and a really cool scarf to stay warm. The scarf is lots of different colours and sooooooooooooooooooo long, well I do have a rather long neck!! Remember to stay warm yourself and make sure you wear your raincoat if it is wet; I want you all to stay happy and healthy like me!!!
25th May 2011
Hello my friends. I hope you are all having fun at school. I’ve been learning about the heart and finding out heaps of interesting things. Did you know that the heart is a muscle and exercise helps it work better? The average person’s heart beats about 3 billion times over their lifetime. So the fitter we are the better for our amazing heart!!!!!
10th May 2011
