Life Education Trust Canterbury - An Overview
Life Education began in Christchurch in 1988 in a static classroom. Today, we now support 2 mobile classrooms and 2 Educators.
Life Education is an interactive educational programme linked to the National School Health Curriculum and presented in hi-tech mobile classrooms which provide a unique learning environment with audio-visual materials, interactive models (including a talking brain!) and Harold, the Giraffe (chosen as our mascot because he stands tall – and this is what we want our children to do).
In 2011, we visited 54 schools reaching over 10,600 children.
Upcoming Events:
For our Quiz lovers, we are having another Quiz on Tuesday 22 May at Robbie’s in Normans Road. Our October quiz was a great success and we plan to repeat that with great prizes and a fun time. Tickets are $15 each and teams can be 4 – 6 people. Come a little earlier and enjoy a meal first – you just need to let Robbie’s know you are staying for the Quiz and it’s an extra bonus for us.
Several people are taking part in the Christchurch Marathon on Sunday 3 June – Harold and his helpers have decided to enter this year – and sponsorship is flowing in thick and fast. We are holding a movie night on Monday 11 June at 6 pm at Northlands. The movie is called ‘Salmon Fishing in the Yemen’ with Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt (the preview looked great) and tickets are $20 - the movie commences at 6:30 but we will have a brief social time with a few $2 raffles first. Calling New Trustees
Ideally, we would like to increase our team of Trustees. Would you like to be part of a small interactive team that want to provide the next generation with the best information and set of coping skills for the challenging world they find themselves in?
Our monthly meeting is well structured and completed in little over an hour. We welcome all enquiries as a broad range of backgrounds are suitable. Please call our local office on (03) 961 7817 and speak to Jocelyn.
